Grameen Bank Now

Grameen Bank is currently at the forefront of progress in every indicator under the charismatic and dynamic leadership of its current Board of Directors and Management Team. For the first time in the history of Grameen Bank, the Zones 39 out of 40 have been in profit since Novenber 2023, which is a unique and an unprecedented achievement. Although 07 audit offices were closed earlier due to the lack of financial capacity, they have resumed their activities now with the return of financial capability. Grameen Bank now operates in 40 Zonal offices, 40 Zonal Audit offices, 240 Area Offices, and 2568 Branch Offices and the number of employees as of April 2024 stands at 22,153. Grameen Bank is currently present in 81,678 (94%) villages in the country and provides services to nearly 45 million people (including family members)  through 10.56 million borrower members.

At the initiative of the Chairman, Grameen Bank has undertaken a new tree planting program to meet the challenges of climate change and build a sustainable Bangladesh as well as a sustainable world. Following this initiative, on the grand occasion of the Birth Centenary of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Grameen Bank has been able to plant 70 million saplings across the country with the spontaneous participation of all its employees and borrower members.Grameen Bank has planted a total of 206.69 million trees till September, 2023.

Grameen Bank has undertaken a number of other initiatives including human resource development, financial activity, and digitization programs with a view to ensuring maximum services to the marginalized poor people in Bangladesh. A new special loan program with monthly installments has also been introduced this year.

The training institute has been renovated with state-of-the-art facilities and a well-equipped computer lab has been set up to offer trainings and help the staff gain a basic understanding of digital communications. Thus, Grameen Bank’s capacity has increased to serve the poor more efficiently and effectively.

Grameen Bank is fully dedicated to building the Sonar Bangla (Golden Bengal) of Bangabandhu's (Father of the Nation) dream by alleviating the poverty of the marginalized poor people of Bangladesh through its microcredit program.
